Employer, Social Media, and Privacy

For my Story I found one that A British Lady that was in jury duty for a child abduction and sexual assault case posted to Facebook because she asked her friends and family to help her decide. It was found out because she used little to no privacy setting on her facebook.

My reaction to this story is that in this case it's good the lady was let go from the jury, She had nothing positive to add to the trial because she had to ask for help in picking a side. But from another she must have felt like her privacy was invaded even though she didn't have any privacy settings. I think it all comes down to if it's right for people to invade your privacy when you do something wrong, if it helps someone out I think it's for the better.

Review of 2009 Specialized Allez Sport

So for my review I decided to review a product I have been using for the past two years regularly. Instead of giving a review on something that has only been used for a week, month, or year. I thought this would be more appealing and a more informative review.

Overview

So In 2009, I bought my first road bike at a the dutch wheelman in Bloomsburgh, PA. I had thought about getting a road bike for the past year or so, and decided to start with an entry level road bike because they would be cheaper than the more advanced road bikes that cost over $2000. So while looking around I spotted my future bike the Specialized Allez sport, it was black with white stripes which made it stand out to me. As I asked the guy about it, he took it down and at that point I was already sold on the bike, so I stood over the bike and it fit perfectly for my height. Not too short or too high. So once I did that I got all the accessories that I needed and I was on my way. So as three years passed I got used to bike, what I liked and what I didn't.

The bike

The 2009 Specialized Allez sport is based off of Specialized's Tarmac series of bikes. Which make it a more faster entry level bike than that of trek, or any other brands in that price range. While being based off of a race bike the Specialized is very light for a allumnium bike it weighs in at 21pounds I believe which isn't the lightest of the bunch but it gets the job done.

The Pros

The Pros of the bike include the Weight, Components, and frame geometry. For the weight of the bike its a lighter bike than the other entry level bikes that other companies put out. With the weight it helps with climbing hills which it seems this bike was made for.  The components for the bike where the Shimano Tiagra grouppo, this is more of an entry level group but for paying sub $1000 it works. This group is a workhorse I put about close to 3000 miles and the chain is still going good along with the shifters and derailleur's. The Frame Geometry for this bike is pretty good for someone that's just getting into racing or cycling in general, its more of a relaxed frame geometry but its still race oriented because of the Specialized Tarmacs influence. So overall the bike is pretty good.

The Cons

Somethings that I don't like about the bike now that Ive been using it for three years. The wheel set, Components. With using this bike for three years you get used to what it has, and what you would like to change. The wheel set on this bike is pretty subpar compared to other bikes in the price range. It has a very high unspun weight which makes it harder to get up to speed. While using this bike for three years I got used to the shifters and derailleur's and how good/bad they were. You can't shift under load like some other groups and if you cross chain it will make your bike shift terribly. Along with that the group set doesn't give you room to grow as a racer the chainring is too small to go at a faster speed than the bike wants to go.

Conclusion

So would I recommend this bike to someone looking to get one, YES! Its very dependable, durable, and fun to ride. It's also very cheap compared to other road bikes.

A day in the dark

So for my second assignment for my bim100 class, we had to go 24hrs without technology in any way that we saw fit. So I chose my time block for Sunday September 9 2012. The day started like any other day I woke up from my alarm around 11:00 a.m then I sat around and tried to figure things to do without technology. The first idea was to go over to the mall and walk around, once I did that I needed more technology void activities. Some of my ideas were to watch TV, go for a bike ride, draw, and read books that I picked up but hadn't read yet.

Once I got back to my dorm I decided to grab lunch like I normally do, after that I went for a 30mile bike ride which helped waste about 20-40 minutes of the day. So with those two adventures completed it was about 3:00 p.m. Then I sat down and watch tv for a little bit, then once I got bored with watching    tv I decided to draw. After I got done drawing I decided to read a book, and magazine. The book I chose to read was called Serious Cycling, the magazine that I read after was a monthly release from Bicycling. Once I got done reading It was about 7:00 p.m.  So I waited around for the pittsburgh vs bronco football game, I used that to end my night with me going to bed around 12:00. So that's about what I did for the Day without technology.

First Blog Post

Welcome to my first blog post and my first blog. My name is Brandon Knapp, I'm currently going to Pennsylvania College of Technology for my Bachelor's degree in Web and Interactive Media. Before I decided to pursue that degree, I was majoring in Civil Engineering here at Penn College. But I decided to switch into a more creative field of work. On my free time I like to Bike, Run Cross Country, Snowboard, and just basically be outside. Ive been to Concord new hampshire twice, and Lake Placid once for the USCAA Colligate Cross Country Nationals.

Besides Running Cross Country i'm an avid Cyclist I've done three centuries (100mile rides), and 7 races. I plan on pursuing a semi pro status in cycling after college when I can support myself financially.
